When seasoned musician Ryan Hideall had his previous band implode during an initial recording session he was faced with a choice: eat peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and banana.
Always choose banana.
Ryan regrouped and called on his brothers, his mostly alter egos Toby and Skyler Hideall to fill the musical void. As children the brothers slayed dragons together, so it was time to suit up again and roll d20.
Ryan draws upon his former experience in Vancouver (British Columbia, not Washington) bands: vocalist/guitarist/sonmgwrite-ist of The Fake, Bass and occasional drunken vocalist for rocksoul outfit The Belushis, Bassist for altrock band Shinen (Mark Andrie), Bassist for Scratch Vocal (Adam Sabla-Loose Fang, Modernettes, New Values).
The HideAlls are influenced by any band that starts with 'the', most notably The Hives, The Vines, The Strokes, The Stooges.
The series of singles set for release each time a hummingbird bumps into Ryan's apartment window were recorded at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, home to seasoned producer/engineer/mixer Jesse Gander (Pack AD, Japandroids) who also mixed the HideAlls tune Hear Me Out.
Ryan leveraged his ADD and pulled in different engineers and mixers to work with for different tunes, eventually losing track of who was doing what for what. Braeden Rangno (aka bpockets) mixed and recorded Black Gold. Harley Small performed additional recording and mixed I Don't Play Nice.
Local Session musicians fill out the recording roster, because Ryan observes the 100 mile musician diet. Drummer Ian Brown (the Matthew Good Band) sat through one track before his head exploded, leaving Flavio Cirillo (Hail the Villain, Bif Naked) to mop up the floor and do four more tracks. Bassist Pete Carvalho (Off by an Inch) lay in some magic.
Songs are mixed by legendary Joao Carvahlo Mastering (Death from Above 1979, Sloan, The Tragically Hip, Tegan and Sara etc.etc.). Nuff said.
The HideAlls are a solo project band. The Gain is at 10. There is no 11. Meet you at 12.
